What is the Financial Empowerment Class?

Abuse can come in many forms one of which is financial. In fact close to 98% of abuse victims encounter some form of financial abuse. Financial abuse can be very subtle or completely overt but are in fact a common tactic used by abusers to gain power and control in a relationship.

The short and long term effects of financial abuse can be devastating. In the short term, access to assets is imperative to staying safe. Without assets, survivors are often unable to obtain safe and affordable housing or the funds to provide for themselves or their children. 

In the long term, survivors can be left with ruined credit scores, legal issues and a lack of financial knowledge that can challenge their ability to gain independence and maintain long term financial and personal security.

Through the Financial Empowerment classes at WEAVE you can become more financially stable and achieve goals you never thought possible. These classes will help you to build a budget, understand your credit, maintain credit and empower yourself through the development and maintenance of SMART Goals; Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic and Timely. 

WEAVE’s expert financial counselors will teach you the basics of managing your financial life and help you to get back on track so that you can move confidently in the direction that is right for you and your family knowing that you have been empowered to take control of the future of your financial life.

Workshops are held at the WEAVE Services Center at 1900 K Street in Sacramento. Workshops are from 6 pm to 7:30 pm for both sessions. Free parking is available in the WEAVE lot.
